How the Danube4SEecosystem Project Strengthens Impact Hub Slovenia’s Support for Social Entrepreneurs
Building a Stronger Social Economy Ecosystem in Slovenia
Over the past two years, Impact Hub Slovenia has actively participated in the Danube4SEecosystem (D4SEE) project, an international initiative bringing together partners from across the Danube Region to strengthen the social economy ecosystem and improve support for social enterprises, social innovators, and local public authorities.
The project focused on one key question: How can we create better conditions for social enterprises to start, grow, measure their impact, and collaborate with local communities and public institutions?
Through research, stakeholder engagement, pilot activities, training programmes, mentoring methodologies, and international knowledge exchange, the project developed a number of practical tools and approaches that can continue creating value long after the project’s official conclusion.
What We Learned
Throughout the project, Impact Hub Slovenia worked closely with social enterprises, NGOs, municipalities, universities, and ecosystem support organisations from several countries.
One of the key lessons confirmed by the project is that successful social enterprises need more than funding. They need access to knowledge, mentoring, networks, practical tools, and a supportive ecosystem that helps them move from an idea to a sustainable and impactful organisation.
The project also highlighted the growing importance of impact measurement, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration between social enterprises and local public authorities in addressing complex social and environmental challenges.
Bringing D4SEE Results into the Impact Pathway
At Impact Hub Slovenia, we are committed to ensuring that the knowledge and methodologies developed within the project continue to benefit entrepreneurs and organisations after the project’s completion.
For this reason, selected tools, methodologies, and learning approaches developed within D4SEE will be integrated into our existing support programmes, including the Impact Pathway.
The Impact Pathway is our structured journey supporting changemakers from the earliest stages of idea development through validation, growth, and long-term impact creation. The pathway currently includes programmes such as:
- Social Impact Award Slovenia
- Impact Launchpad
- Impact Next
- Mentoring and expert support programmes
- Capacity-building activities delivered through the Center of Excellence for the Non-profit Sector
Insights gained through D4SEE will help us further strengthen these programmes and provide more effective support to social entrepreneurs and social innovators.
What Will Continue After the Project?
Several outputs developed within the project will continue to be used and adapted within Impact Hub Slovenia’s activities.
These include:
Capacity-Building Approaches
Selected learning materials and educational approaches developed through the D4SEE Capacity Building Programme will be incorporated into future workshops, incubation activities, mentoring programmes, and training initiatives.
Social Economy Support Methodologies
Methodologies related to stakeholder engagement, impact readiness, ecosystem development, and cooperation between social enterprises and local public authorities will continue to be used in our support activities.
International Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange
The project further strengthened our connections with organisations across the Danube Region, creating opportunities for future cooperation, exchange of good practices, and joint initiatives that benefit social entrepreneurs in Slovenia.
Looking Ahead
The end of a project should not mean the end of its impact.
The Danube4SEecosystem project has provided valuable knowledge, tested methodologies, and practical tools that will continue to influence how we support social entrepreneurs, social innovators, NGOs, and impact-driven organisations in Slovenia.
By integrating these results into the Impact Pathway and other support programmes, Impact Hub Slovenia remains committed to helping changemakers transform ideas into sustainable solutions that create positive social and environmental impact.
We would like to thank all project partners, stakeholders, and participants who contributed to the project and look forward to building on these results in the years ahead.
